11 tries to nil.

Abercarn swept into the second round of the Bowl with a resounding 73 points to nil win away to Blaina. Full-back Rhys Morgan, scrum-half Colin Manning and sub Sean Higgins spearheaded the win with each scoring a brace of tries. Abercarn flew out of the traps and good inter passing across the three-quarters saw Morgan scoring his first try after only two minutes. Minutes later, winger Owen Coomer scored following a strong driving maul by the pack. Manning was next on the scoreboard before number 8 Gareth Peebles collected a pop-up pass from Greg Baker to cross the whitewash. Centre Gareth Williams kept the scoreboard ticking over before Morgan broke from within his 20 and released winger Andrew Fraser who powered over the line. Manning scored his second try and the first half ended with Abercarn leading 45 points to nil.

The match was a one-sided affair with the pace, forward power and cohesion of Abercarn proving too much for Blaina. Substitute Higgins quickly announced his arrival on the pitch by running an excellent angle to score. Following a weaving run, Morgan scored a fine try before Jack Davies strolled under the posts. Blaina then enjoyed a good period of pressure but were unable to break through Abercarns' defenses. Higgins had the final word scoring the visitors eleventh try. Outside-half, Jamie Baker had an excellent afternoon kicking nine conversions. Man of the Match award went to flanker Matthew Harper playing in his 100th game for Abercarn.

This Saturday Llanhilleth are traveling to the Welfare Ground, kick off at 2:30 pm.
