Another clean sheet

Abercarn maintained their excellent start to the season with a bonus point win over Rogerstone, scoring six tries in the process. They took the lead within 5 minutes of the kickoff when centre Sean Higgins scored a try in the corner. From the restart they capitalised on a mistake and winger Scott Llewelyn streaked down the touch line and full back Jason Evans added the two points. Play was disjointed and the referees whistle was prominent with long lectures being delivered to both sides. The penalty count against Abercarn was mounting but poor handling and good defensive work meant that Rogerstone were unable to get on the scoreboard. The hosts moved further ahead when, following a driving maul number 8 Gareth Peebles crossed the whitewash and Evans' conversion took the halftime score to 19 - 0.

The Stags had obviously done their homework and were able to disrupt the home sides game plan and were very effective at rucks and mauls. On the hour mark Abercarn went through several phases and following a lovely interchange of passes Evans scored a fine try to clinch the bonus point. Peebles scored his second try of the game when the forwards disrupted a Rogerstone throw in and with the visitors barely having a chance to catch their breath, centre Owen Coomer crossed for his fourth try in as many games. Evans duly added the two points and the final score was 36 points to nil!

The Man of the Match Award went to flanker Matthew Harper. This Saturday Abercarn are travelling to Blaina who have won their last two games in the League.
